On October 21st, Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) officially awarded EDGE Advanced Certification to Artinian Co. Ltd. for the Artinian Atelier Academy project.
💎 Artinian Co. Ltd. is a Bangkok-based luxury jewellery house and manufacturer that designs, sources, and crafts high-end gemstone and diamond pieces — offering bespoke and private-label services for global markets.
🏗️ In the context of the complete refurbishment of the Artinian Academy and Atelier Building (total project area: approx. 10,000 m² GFA), Artinian pursued an EDGE Advanced certification.
To reach this highest certification level, the following key sustainability measures were implemented:
✅ 660 kWp photovoltaic system
✅ Energy-efficient VRF air-conditioning
✅ Fresh-air ventilation with energy recovery
✅ Water-saving fixtures and toilets
✅ Wastewater recycling system
✅ Building renovation instead of new construction
These measures resulted in remarkable savings compared to the Thai baseline:

EGS-plan’s Managing Director Dr. Robert Himmler had the privilege to be invited as a panelist at the “H2Uppp Southeast Asia Conference on Green Hydrogen and Power-to-X“, held on 21 July 2025 in Bangkok. Organized by GIZ Thailand in cooperation with the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce (GTCC) / AHK Thailand, the event brought together stakeholders from government, industry, and the international development community to explore pathways for advancing green hydrogen and PtX technologies in the region.
During the panel, he shared perspectives of the work at EGS-plan (Bangkok) Co., Ltd., where we support the development of sustainable energy systems and carbon reduction strategies for green buildings. In the framework of the H2Uppp initiative, we are currently conducting a feasibility study for a pilot project on Koh Munnork, a small off-grid island in the Gulf of Thailand. The objective is to replace conventional diesel generators with a solar PV and green hydrogen-based energy system, offering a replicable model for decarbonizing remote locations.
The event highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships, regulatory clarity, and bankable pilot projects to scale up green hydrogen solutions in Southeast Asia.
Our sincere thanks to GIZ and GTCC for facilitating this valuable platform for exchange.

InterContinental Chiang Mai the Mae Ping, located in the vibrant Chang Klan area of Chiang Mai, Thailand, and a flagship property of Asset World Corporation (AWC), has been awarded the prestigious LEED Version 4.0 BD+C (Building Design and Construction) Certification in the Hospitality category.
EGS-plan (Bangkok) Co., Ltd., the LEED Commissioning Authority for this project, provided both LEED Fundamental Commissioning and LEED Enhanced Commissioning services. These commissioning processes ensured that the hotel’s energy-related systems were not only designed and installed to meet the required standards but were also optimized for long-term performance. Through these efforts, the project surpassed basic performance verification, ultimately improving building performance in the long run and supporting its LEED certification achievement, a significant milestone for all involved.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partner, AFRICUS, the LEED consultant for this project, for their invaluable contributions to making this success possible.

On 28 November 2024, a kick-off event for the new public-private partnership (PPP) “Green Hydrogen for Energy Self-Sufficient Hotels, Resorts and Islands” took place at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Thailand. Organized by GIZ Thailand and EGS-plan, this initiative was presented under the international H2Uppp program. The goal is to utilize green hydrogen, solar PV, and battery storage for off-grid hotels and resorts in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Approximately 30 participants, including representatives from public and private sectors, attended.
Currently, remote islands primarily rely on diesel generators or submarine cables for energy. However, the combination of solar energy, batteries, and green hydrogen provides a sustainable alternative to promote decarbonization and environmental friendliness.
H.E. Dr. Ernst Reichel, German Ambassador to Thailand, emphasized Thailand’s importance as a strategic partner in Germany’s International Climate Initiative (IKI) and highlighted the country’s ambitions to transform its economy toward renewable energy. Dr. Dominika Kalinowska, Director of Transport Projects at GIZ Thailand, underscored the role of green hydrogen in achieving sustainability in Thailand’s tourism and transport sectors.
Tim Nees, H2Uppp Project Manager, explained the program’s vision: the aim is to build a market for green hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX) through bilateral partnerships between public and private sectors. German and European companies are connected with local partners, focusing on hotels as key stakeholders for implementing new technologies.
Dr. Robert Himmler, Managing Director of EGS-plan in Bangkok, outlined the challenges associated with implementing green hydrogen in remote hotels and resorts. Key issues include feasibility, maintenance, repair logistics, and high investment costs, all of which need thorough investigation.
Following the presentations, discussion and networking sessions allowed participants to address questions and explore potential activities within the new partnership.
The H2Uppp program is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and implemented globally by GIZ. Supported by the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce (GTCC), Thailand serves as the regional hub for Southeast Asia. H2Uppp promotes policy and market development for green hydrogen and PtX through studies, training, partnership initiatives, and knowledge dissemination. It connects local and international hydrogen experts, particularly from the German private sector.
