As official DGNB academy partner, EGS-plan has supported two DGNB online trainings in Bangkok and Taipei: on 2nd of September a lecture about “Health and User Satisfaction” for the DGNB Registered Professional training at the School of Architecture at King Mongut’s University of Technology Thonburi in Thailand. And from 9th to 11th of September a DGNB Consultant training at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.

The students learnt about sustainable buildings and city districts and how to rate the “greenness” of real estate with the help of the DGNB rating system.

Congratulations to our partner company, Africus Co. Ltd. for the LEED Gold certification of SamYan Mitrtown! The 35-story mixed-use building is located in the Pathum Wan district in Bangkok and has a total area of 100,028 sqm.

EGS-plan has supported the project with enhanced commissioning services. Building commissioning is a quality management process, which verifies, that the technical systems of a new building are meeting the owner’s project requirements. Therefore, the commissioning has started early at the beginning of the SamYan project. In regular intervals, the construction of the project was verified by EGS-plan’s commissioning experts to comply with the design and the owner’s project expectations. The actual commissioning work started with finalizing of the construction and the startup of the technical systems. Our team also clarified the stakeholder’s responsibilities and provided installation and functional checklists, so that the startup of the building was a structured process, despite of the final hectic weeks of a construction project. The result is a building which works as intended with a low energy consumption, great thermal comfort and low maintenance costs.

Our building and neighborhood concepts are more than green: we are not only considering the impact of our buildings on the environment, but also take account for economics and socio-cultural aspects: optimized life cycle costs, well being of the inhabitants and aesthetic solutions.

The Method: Integrated Design!

On the bases of our integrated design approach we closely work together with all stakeholders of a project: client,architect, engineers and future occupants. At the beginning of a project we define goals based on sophisticated simulation tools to predict energy demand, thermal comfort, investment and life cycle costs. By combing innovative technologies we find cost optimized and innovative solutions for the benefit of our clients.

The Implementation: Certified Quality!

After successfully finishing the concept we do not leave our clients alone. We closely monitor the implementation of our concepts through a detailed quality control during the complete design, construction and commissioning process. To ensure a high quality we recommend to carry out a third party building certification according to the DGNB (German Association for sustainable buildings) or LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental and Design) system.

After three months of work-from-home policy, EGS-plan has returned to the office to work in shifts since the beginning of June 2020. During the three months of self-quarantine, communication within the company has even improved due to daily telephone and video conferences, state of the art collaboration software and a great team spirit. Therefore it was decided to keep the daily group briefings to improve transparency and shortly discuss tasks and challenges of the day. This will further strengthen our sustainability consulting services to the benefit of our customers and their construction projects.
